One Pot Camping Meals for a Crowd

When you want to feed a hungry crowd one pot camping meals are what you need. Whether its a Dutch oven meal, a skillet breakfast, or a big pot of stew simmering on the coals one pot meals make it easy on the cook, are tasty and filling, and get everyone fed. If you're the camp cook, then you're always on the lookout for ways to simplify things without sacrificing taste. Here are some ideas to get that job done.

Dutch Oven Cooking

A Dutch oven meal is a great one pot camping meal that has endless possibilities. You can cook anything from a pot of chili to a boeuf bourguignon simmered over the coals. How about trying short ribs and sauerkraut? Or corned beef and cabbage?

Skillet Meals

Skillet meals make me think of breakfast, but they can just as easily be dinner or lunch. How about Sloppy Joes? A hearty and tasty meal to fill up a bunch of hungry campers. You can use either ground beef or turkey, add your own mix of spices or use a package. Serve over hamburger buns with coleslaw and chips.

Pasta

Spaghetti is a standby favorite one pot meal, but why not try something a bit different? Tortellini or ravioli with pesto? Add some cooked chicken to the mix for an even heartier meal. Cook your frozen or fresh pasta in a pot of boiling water on the stove, drain, mix the pesto and chicken in with the hot pasta. Serve with garlic bread and salad for a new twist on a one pot camping meal.
